The 1 Series Has Landed in the US

Head over to 1addicts for all the first pics.

And on a personal note… That’s almost the exact spec I’ll eventually be ordering.

Are you getting rid of the MINI?

  • http://www.bridger.us/ Gabe

yes – sometime between tomorrow and next March I’ll be selling my mini and getting a 135i. At least that’s the current plan. It really hinges on finding the right buyer for the MINI. And I still love owning/driving it so I’m totally fine keeping of another year.

Gabe I recommend NOT getting the black and go with Terra…. I have Auburn in my sport wagon and it makes the car! Our 1 will more than likely be blue water with terra or lemon…. via ED of course this fall as soon as allotment is no longer from dealer.

Since ive got a child on the way I was thinking leatherette was the way to go. Ive had it many times before and found it pretty close to leather but easier to clean.

  • Jon

Sad to see you selling your Mini Gabe but my garage has the same issue a two car maximum. I do know this wont change your affection for the Mini brand. Not to surprised though, think we all knew this was coming heh.

I personally am very tempted by the 135i, very similar spec to what you have mentioned though I am still very tempted by the Alpine White with Coral Red Boston leather. Still think I will hold out for the E89 introduction next year still before going after my next car.

Ideally I’ll sell the MINI later this summer and go car-less until I do a european delivery of a 135i in March.

  • Jon

A very good plan Gabe! Think the European delivery is more than worthwhile, would be better still if it was already broken in though so a little flogging at the Ring was in order lol.

I am sure that you will make sure your Mini goes to a Mini Maniac and the so-so Factory car just makes yours shine better.

Next question, how do you think this will affect you at the Dragon? Still have wondered how a BMW will fit in but at least your still doing Motoringfile so think you can get away with it.

This plan has tentatively been in the works for a very long time :)

I completely agree and honestly that makes it harder for me to want to sell it.

I’ve told most close friends for awhile now that this will be my last Dragon for the foreseeable future due to family and a tightening personal schedule. I may change my mind but I have no plan to renew my cabin for 2009. But your question may actually be more apt than you realize for this year’s Dragon.

Congrats Gabe on the upcoming bundle! My wife and I are still likely a couple of years from that point ourselves. Very cool though – best of luck and congrats!

Enjoy the new car in the coming months as well!

  • Jon

Maybe you can get a 135i press car for the Dragon this year if you end up going and don’t have yours yet.

Life always gets more complicated year after year but passion for auto’s seems to always be there. For me personally one of my earliest memories was helping my father change oil on his car, which to this day still refreshes every time I find myself working on my Mini’s.

Again… plans have been in place for awhile :)

Congrats Gabe: One car is enough for us, so we will be selling the R53 and getting the 135i. Good luck on your trip to the headquarters!!.Not sure if you are interested in making an entry on Bimmerfile in regards to the design of the building but I can provide you with great links to the building deigned by Coop Himmelblau Architects from Austria. Where will you make the drop-off? I was planning on doing the same trip as all my family lives in Barcelona and I believe that’s one of the drop off points…but we are too busy at the moment so it will be nice to read about your experience here on Bimmerfile.

Can’t wait for the 135i on the Dragon video ;)

About BimmerFile

BimmerFile is dedicated to bringing you the most interesting news, links and reviews related to the BMW brand and it's vehicles.

We believe in the old school BMW ownership experience. We believe in garage nights with a six pack and some friends. We believe in 2002s, in E30 M3s and E34 540s with the 6 speed. We believe in progress in both design and engineering but we haven't lost sight of what made the brand and its products great all those years ago. And yes, we believe in the manual transmission.

We long for the days of the wave and for the days of roll-up windows. Yet we love the gadgets on the inside and the xenons on the outside.

In short, we can't get enough of BMWs. This is BimmerFile.
