2009 F01 BMW 7 series photo

On a tip we received earlier in the day we came upon a what appears to be a photo of the new F01 7 Series. This maybe a photo for the brochures that are being developed or a excellent photoshop.

What we do know is that the source of the photo has produced many excellent spy photos in the past. The lines and and the angles match those in the previous spy shots.

Looks like a very high quality rendering to me.

Even though I am a BMW fan, the Mercedes S-Class continues to set the high watermark for design in that segment and this does not look like BMW will change that anytime soon.

Hmm… maybe the real thing but I doubt it, to be honest. When and what show will the concept 7 be shown?

I agree with Gabe you can see the full HDRI (rendering environment) on the candy paint…plus the radial blur on the rims looks a little bit funny. nice though!

This is indeed a render, because the C-pillar doesn’t match up with the spy shots.

I got this right before my real job required me at a meeting so I did not put much into it or take a real good look. Now that I am home and staring at it, it is an excellent rendering but not the real deal. I think it will be close and we will all get to see after the Paris show unless there is a leak ….

Rendering or not. I’m on the fence about the headlights. The rest is good. IMO.

First thing I thought of was the new Jaguar XF. Something about the headlights. However, when you compare them side by side they are totally different.

Analyzing this photo, i can say that the present 7 series looks a lot better. This does not look like a true 7 series is doesn’t show “high” class or anymore image or “power” as the new 3 series look. BMW clearly stated that their new 7 series would have a higher class feel closer to a Rolls Royce and also stated their highest 7 series class would be considered a “BABY ROLLS” so i highly doubt it looks like that … if it does big dissapointment, I’m a huge pro to BMW. We’ll see the REAL leaked images soon..

I agree with David Most of the problem is the headlights

Khash, the new F01 7 will be the base of a new Rolls Royce, not that it would be considered one. The “baby” will be basically the 7 with some added features and some different sheet metal in the front and rear. I think this may be part of the mild look of the 7. You can view some spy picture in a past post here on BF just scroll and you will see it!: http://www.bimmerfile.com/2008/03/25/x1-spied-during-winter-testing/

I know that it is based on the new Rolls Royce. I’m just saying information i read in an article that i believe either the designer or the president of BMW was explaining how they are designing the F01 7, they were saying how it would resemble a Rolls. The Rear i see and i agree but where does the front of this look remotely like a Rolls? And most of my enthuisum of the F01 7 is the headlights it just makes me think of either E90’s or a E80’s

Well we can’t have a new model and not have it look any different right? BMW fans know that when it comes to the 7-Series, luxury comes before style – cheers!

I am a HUGE BMW fan, but that thing is butt-ugly. It reminds me of a Mercury Marquis. Hopefully the real thing will be better.

This is not a photo. No seam (parting line) between front fender and front end cap. No wrap around rear tail lights. Grille shape wrong, front cap wrong below head lights.

yea im with the others, huge BMW fan but not feeling that guy. Having said that, if it is the real 7 series, lot of new BMW models have been known to not be photogenic, like the 5’s. I dont think photos do those guys justice

The thing is no one will know until its an offical leak or shown at a carshow because if you try searching there are i think 4 or 5 different styles that were considered a “leak.”

About BimmerFile

BimmerFile is dedicated to bringing you the most interesting news, links and reviews related to the BMW brand and it's vehicles.

We believe in the old school BMW ownership experience. We believe in garage nights with a six pack and some friends. We believe in 2002s, in E30 M3s and E34 540s with the 6 speed. We believe in progress in both design and engineering but we haven't lost sight of what made the brand and its products great all those years ago. And yes, we believe in the manual transmission.

We long for the days of the wave and for the days of roll-up windows. Yet we love the gadgets on the inside and the xenons on the outside.

In short, we can't get enough of BMWs. This is BimmerFile.
