3 Series ///M Sport for US

It is official, BMW snuck the 3 Series ///M sports in the system so they can be ordered! Originally it was not believed the 3 Series would be part of the ///M Sport (ZMP) lineup for the US launch. They now have definitely been included. All models except the 335d can be equipped with this option. Yes, even the sport wagon!

While there is not a performance boost, the additional packaging includes: 18″ M Light Alloy Star-Spoke Wheels (Style 193M), Sport Seats, Sport Suspension, Aerodynamic Package,///M Sports Leather Steering Wheel w/ Paddle Shifter (if auto),anthracite headliner and Increased Top Speed Limiter.

In addition to the normal 3 Series colors being available, LeMans Blue is exclusive to this package.

For all those interested in the specific codes of options available in the package:

507 PDC (rear only)

2MF 18″ style 193 Wheels

481 Sport Seats (Same as Sport Package)

4B9 Aluminum Trim

704 Sport Suspension (same as Sport Package)

710 M steering wheel

715 Aerodynamic Package

760 Shadowline Trim (Same as Sport Package)

775 Anthracite Headliner

840 Increased top speed limiter (Same as Sport Package)

We expect pricing to be more than the 1 Series and less than the 5 Series somewhere in the $3300 range.

Thanks Parker for the tip!

    Wooohoooo!!!!

  • Parker

    Thanks for the credit!

Ordered mine yesterday, Alpine on Chestnut 335i Sedan. Will be taking delivery end of May at the Performance Center.

  • Dede

Congrats Parker! Looked for it on BMWusa.com and could find it in the configurator. What’s the cost for this option package?

  • Rich

Nice! The ZMP bumpers make such a huge difference to the look of the car… but where’s the anthracite headliner like in the 1 series?

  • Parker

There is no price on my order sheet, it says “blocked”. But the list does include the anthracite headliner.

  • http://www.bridger.us/ Gabe

I have waited for this for 8 years – since it was introduced on the E46. So nice to finally see the M aero-kit as a factory option in the US (along with the M wheels and anthracite headliner).

  • nick

    How about the M suspension?

  • John

Someone on another Bimmer board posted his ZMP order along with the individual codes listed in the package – unfortunately they were the same as on the current ZSP sport package which would make this cosmetics only vs. the global version with M-Sport suspension – maybe Parker can confirm the codes? 704 and 840 if I remember correctly.

  • Dede

No price? So how much are you paying? Seems weird.

  • Matt

Wagon equipped ZMP, I love it!

  • Drill

Excellent timing! The Frau and I are thinking about a wagon and this would REALLY help on my end, lol.

  • Chris B.

Man, this the best news I’ve heard from BMWNA for years outside of new model launches. How refreshing to finally get the most coveted option the rest of the world has been offered and we have been deprived of until now!!!

  • Scott

Hi guys, maybe I’m looking at the wrong place. But I can’t find the M Sports package as an option under build your own 335i sedan. Help me out here.

  • Dave

    /yawn

  • http://bimmerfile.com Michael

Scott- It is not going to be up on the BMWUSA site yet this is breaking news… the site is always slow to update and pricing has not been announced so the site will not have it until then. This option does not take effect until March builds so I would expect it to hit the site sometime then. There are a lot of cars still sitting so that is priority one…

  • Parker

    My M Sport Package options list includes;

507 PDC (rear only) 2MF 18″ style 193 Wheels 481 Sport Seats 4B9 Aluminum Trim 704 Sport Suspension 710 M steering wheel 715 Aerodynamic Package 760 Shadowline Trim 775 Anthracite Headliner 840 Increased top speed limiter

So does our M sport = stock USA sports? Or is it the M sports? Thats what I was hoping for.

  • Stefan

Parker: not quite. Sports does not mean M-Sport. I can comment only on USA/Canada models.

For example.. check out the steering wheel. The M steering wheel is drastically different than the sports package one.

However, the BMW USA website does not confirm that you can now order the ZMP (M-Sport package), but rather just the M-Aerodynamic kit which is exterior only. Can someone confirm that you can, in fact, place an order with ZMP?

  • Chaz

Looks like it is just cosmetic, eh?
    - Wheels - Aerodynamic Package - Shadowline - Anthracite - Thicker leather on the steering wheel.

She’s pretty, but where is the beef?

  • Parker

Stefan, please read the other comments and the description of this page. All of your questions were already answered. ;)

  • Enzo

Is this going to be for Sedan only? I can see this happening because of the Coupe refresh in 2010 but wondering if the Coupe will get any love as well.

  • John

Parker – did you get the cold weather package? Wondering if the M steering wheel will have a heated option like is available on the ’09′s

  • Parker

Cold weather package is not available with the Msports. I just ordered fold down seats and heated front seats.

  • Natextr

I am correct in assuming that xi’s need not apply?

  • Stefan

Parker: So you were able to order it in the US? Are you scheduled for March build? I’m going to cross my fingers that Canada follows suit.. I personally think M-Sport is a definite step up over Sport. Helps a lot with resale values (at least it did on the E46).

  • Chaz

Stefan – the E46 had an upgraded suspension, different gearing, and several things that gave it a performance advantage over the regular sport suspension. There is no indication that the e90 package has anything to improve performance.

  • bsd107

On the global car, the suspension is supposedly upgraded to M-Sport. Doesn’t seem like that is the case for NA models, unfortunately….

  • Stefan

Thanks for the info gentlemen! As a prospective buyer, it’s worth waiting for either way. Our ZMP up here on the E46 was strictly cosmetic as well but it definitely boosted resale. We never got E46 ZHP in Canada.

  • http://bimmerfile.com Michael

With the new ///M3 the suspension modifications are significantly more than just springs and struts, what I am trying to tell you all is that in the EU, there is not “sport” package like we get here in the US, there is the M Sport package ZMP, so if you compare the ZSP to ZMP you will see that the suspension is the same…

I also think some people are confusing the E46 ZHP with the ZMP, the ZHP was a high performance version of the car “HP” ZMP Is a modified sports pack.

As for XIs I am still waiting on an answer for that and will update as I hear…

Tonight I have updates on several recent posts as well, the 2010 models and the N54 software issues…

-Michael I hope that clears some things up…

  • Gragop

is this for the 335i only? If the US gets this package for the Touring then it would have to be available on the 328 right?

  • http://bimmerfile.com Michael

    Gragop- Yep, 328i included.

  • Gragop

Ballin! All I want is a 328i with ZMP, Xenons and ipod adapter.

  • http://www.bridger.us/ Gabe

BTW I’d expect pricing to be a little more in-line with 5 series M Sport pricing rather than the 1 Series pricing. This is due to the fact that the 3er and 5er both will have different aero-kits where the 135i already has the M aero-kit as standard.

  • Parker

I dont think it will be that high, because the 5 ZMP includes ARS, which is an expensive option.

  • Drill

I’d say the biggest addition is the Aero kit which the BMWUSA site has as a $1250 option so if you add that to the Sports Package’s $2050 you get $3300.

I haven’t looked, but these are the 328 Wagon prices and would imagine that the other 3 series’ are comparable.

  • Parker

The thing that really bugs me is its not like we are getting two sets of bumpers. They shouldnt be able to charge us double like if its an add on accessory. Its a different style than the usual one.

  • http://www.bridger.us/ Gabe

When I say a little more inline I guess I’m just saying higher than the 1er.

The thing that really bugs me is its not like we are getting two sets of bumpers. They shouldnt be able to charge us double like if its an add on accessory. Its a different style than the usual one.

FYI – it’s an entire aerokit – not just bumpers.

  • Parker

I know, I paid 800 for the aero kit on my current car plus paint and labor. But I still had my stock bumpers and side skirts. What I am trying to say is they will be double charging us for bumpers, even though we dont get the first set. BUT thats the price we pay to have the things we want on our cars.

  • Rob

Can 775 Anthracite Headliner be ordered separately?

  • http://bimmerfile.com Michael

    Rob,

It is not available as a separate option in the US at this time.

About BimmerFile

BimmerFile is dedicated to bringing you the most interesting news, links and reviews related to the BMW brand and it's vehicles.

We believe in the old school BMW ownership experience. We believe in garage nights with a six pack and some friends. We believe in 2002s, in E30 M3s and E34 540s with the 6 speed. We believe in progress in both design and engineering but we haven't lost sight of what made the brand and its products great all those years ago. And yes, we believe in the manual transmission.

We long for the days of the wave and for the days of roll-up windows. Yet we love the gadgets on the inside and the xenons on the outside.

In short, we can't get enough of BMWs. This is BimmerFile.
