This might be the luxury standard for BMW in this niche. Someting more along the size of the 3series, Mazda 3, or Alfa 147 would be more useful globally. I’m looking forward to see the smaller version that can support a more active and eco-friendly lifestyle.

I saw this 5er GT in the Munich airport on Saturday. It’s not the vehicle for me, but the photos don’t do it justice.

Well I for one will be interested to see this in person to see if the less than pleasant pictures are not showing the vehicle in its best light. Still the overall design and development screams AARP.

Having said that I am sure BMW will sell more than a few in the US since we seem to be sold that bigger is always better.

I saw this car back in 2005 or 2006 as part of a focus group. It was presented along with a 7-series, a 5-series sedan, an MB R-class, an Audi Q7, and the then also prototype X5 (E70).

I told them then that the rear was an abomination. It seems they've made some tweaks although until I see it in person I will reserve judgment. To me the looks aren't as much an issue as the absence of visibility and light into the interior.

Shame that the xDrive won’t be here until the fall of 2010 at the earliest. It would be a compelling option to replace the wife’s X3 that goes back in Febuary, 2010… All in all, I like the concept of the GT, functionally, it works and while the looks are avant-garde, they will hopefully appear better in person than in photos.
