BMW Rahal Letterman ///M3s Off to Canada

BMW Motorsport

This coming Sunday the BMW Rahal Letterman team will compete in the Mobil 1 Grand Prix of Mosport located just outside Toronto, Ontario Canada. After placing 1 and 2 at Road America the competition will be gunning for the BMWs at the fastest track in ALMS.

We will be making the 10 hour + trek (via BMW) to the track to cover the race in depth while also digging a bit deeper into the inner workings of the race vehicle. We are enthusiasts; we have Castrol in our veins and specialized compounds on the soles of our shoes, we love this stuff! There is no better way to express our love of what we know and think BMW is all about than talking with the team and experiencing the vehicles at the track as only we can. We can’t get enough of BMW Motorsport and we are fairly sure that you are right there with us. Join us at the track or watch the race this coming Sunday, Aug. 30th, at 3pm EST on Speed and give some added support to the team and the brand.

Official Release:

BMW RAHAL LETTERMAN RACING TEAM HEADS TO CANADA

26.08.2009

Press Release Woodcliff Lake, N.J. – Aug. 26, 2009… The month of August has been the most intense period on the 2009 American Le Mans Series calendar. The rush of events at Mid-Ohio, Road America and now Mosport provide race fans with nearly uninterrupted action. The BMW Rahal Letterman Racing Team heads to Canada and Mosport International Raceway fresh from its first GT2 win on August 16 at Road America, where the No. 90 M3 of Joey Hand and Bill Auberlen led a one-two class sweep for the team in only the seventh race of its inaugural season.

With three high-profile events remaining in the season, the team has had no time for rest. Mosport is known as the fastest track in the history of the American Le Mans Series. The circuit’s high-speed corners and elevation changes require complete preparation and focus by the crew and drivers. The two-hour-and-forty-five-minute race will also provide an excellent opportunity to fine tune for the equally demanding Road Atlanta and the grueling ten-hour Petit Le Mans on September 26.

“Going into the season we had hoped to become quickly competitive, but our opponents continue to raise the bar week after week,” said Martin Birkmann, BMW of North America Motorsport Manager. “The win is a result of all parties growing together more closely and a desire for victory. Nonetheless – it is a huge relief. The confidence that we can challenge the best teams will allow us now to continue to push hard for the remaining three events. There are still a lot of points to go around, and we would like to collect many of them.”

“The win at Road America marks the point where we hit our stride as a new team this season,” said Bobby Rahal. “At Mosport, you must be sharp and focused to win, so I believe this is the perfect time for our team’s first attempt at the track.”

The Mobil 1 Grand Prix of Mosport is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. ET Sunday, Aug. 30 and will be broadcast live on SPEED television.

About BimmerFile

BimmerFile is dedicated to bringing you the most interesting news, links and reviews related to the BMW brand and it's vehicles.

We believe in the old school BMW ownership experience. We believe in garage nights with a six pack and some friends. We believe in 2002s, in E30 M3s and E34 540s with the 6 speed. We believe in progress in both design and engineering but we haven't lost sight of what made the brand and its products great all those years ago. And yes, we believe in the manual transmission.

We long for the days of the wave and for the days of roll-up windows. Yet we love the gadgets on the inside and the xenons on the outside.

In short, we can't get enough of BMWs. This is BimmerFile.
