Over the next few weeks we expect the automotive industry to slowly come out of its late December combo to prepare for what still is the largest automotive event in the US: NAIAS. However this year we’ll be covering the show from every angle. Todd, Matt and myself be there to not only report from the floor but bring you the designers, executives, and insiders through a series of show floor BimmerCasts. Look for full galleries of the entire show as well.
The fun starts on January 11th where BMW will be showing off the ActiveE, Z4 35is, F10 5 Series and just about everything else you would expect and imagine. We’ll see you from the show floor in just under two weeks.

The always delightful Adam Carolla visited the LA Auto Show a few weeks back and had some time to chat with Tom Plucinsky about the new 7 Series Hybrid among many other new releases.

We’d like to wish everyone happy holidays as we close out 2009. It’s been an incredible year at BimmerFile and we owe it all to you the readers. We’ll be taking the next few days off (or at least trying to) as we gear up for next week, next year and of course the Detroit Auto Show. So until then, thanks and cheers!

Car Magazine caught up with BMW’s former design chief at his Italian Villa where the master of flame surfacing has been “drinkin’ some wine, eatin’ some cheese, catchin’ some rays” in his own words. But what about design, cars and of course BMW? Here’s an excerpt:
Bangle is critical of this generation of car designers and their fear of challenging ‘brand holiness’, as he calls it. He laments that too many car companies just repeat what’s been done before. ‘You can always argue that the generation before didn’t have the constraints that we have, but that’s crap. The worst thing you can do is to think design is a rolling wheel fixed on a track of inevitability and you can’t move it left or right.’

The North American International Auto Show in Detroit will see the World debut of the BMW Concept ActiveE and BMW Z4 sDrive35is, as well as the North American unveiling of the twin-turbocharged inline-6 engine version of the BMW 740i and 740Li Sedans and the six-cylinder turbocharged version of the BMW 535i Gran Turismo.

BimmerCast #11: The longest most action packed show we’ve ever produced. Ok action packed maybe a bit strong, but we can promise more topics over the course of 50 minutes than ever before. First up we talk ActiveE and the new (for the US) 740i models. Then of course there’s our exclusive on BMW Performance price drops and what’s coming next for BMW’s own pseudo aftermarket tuning arm. Then it’s onto the E92 3 Series refresh, the 335is (!) and the (seemingly) age-old debate between the DCT and the manual transmission. Finally we talk Z4 racecar and the likely-hood of seeing more of this car on the road.
