While I would buy a turbo-four BMW, I'd love to have a refreshed I-6. That is THE BMW engine. Unmistakable sound and so tractable.

Also, please don't let the X1 and X3 kill off the 3er touring in this country. I'm dying for a next gen 3er wagon with its classic proportions and extra carrying capacity. The X1 is funny looking and the next X3 will be too big and expensive (size of original X5).

I can't wait for the coming efficient years- just remember BMW, you're the Ultimate Driving Machine!

Regarding the 3 series E92/E93 refresh... Does this mean that the announcement, ordering guides and pricing will come out "soon" but will not be on display in the flesh (metal!) until Geneva in March?

The SuperSport.... will be coming, much like the "is" Z4. If you note the post directly after this one - the 1 is getting the DCT and there is more to come on that!

What about the rumored 135 "SuperSport" - is it still being considered as a "swan song" for the current 1 series?

The 135 will remain the same until its end of life with this generation, aside from a boost in the not so distant future. The next generation is really still up for debate as BMW has nothing set in stone as far as engines go, it is all flexible based on EPA/CARB and EU emissions, fleet averages etc. The 3 cylinder may in fact come here if the requirements call for it, and thus make the turbo 4 the high output motor. There is also a tri-turbo 4 in the works with other inline 6s as well.

In the future we will talk in terms of output rather than displacement or cylinders.... the future is not that far off so it is entirely possible that the 4 cylinder would be available in two different outputs. Honestly all we know is that the engineers have been very busy getting a lot from a little and that will all come to market with the launch of the new 1.

any info on the engine that would be in the 135 if the 4 cylinder is supplanting the NA 6 cylinder.

A more powerful N54 would be fine with me.
