BMW Motorsport at ‘Ofest 2011

BMW has a long history of supporting the BMW CCA (car club of America) and this year they are doing so with a bevy of historic race cars at the Club’s largest meet. Octoberfest (held this year at the famed Road American in Elkhart Lake Wisconsin) will host four of the more well known BMW race cars of the past 30 years (PDF factsheet in parenthesis):

M1 IMSA GTO / 1981 (PDF fact sheet)
M3 E36 PPG Race Car / 1995 (PDF fact sheet)
M5 E34 IMSA Supercar / 1994 (PDF fact sheet)
M3 E46 GTR / 2001 (PDF fact sheet)

The best part? We’ll have a chance to get up close with each car and potentially even ride in a few around the famous Road America.

Clearly it’s going to be a memorable event. We’ll have much more in the coming days.

Well at this point thinking about burning more vacation time and checking it out in person heh. Sounds like Michael or yourself are looking at going this year (which would be a good think in case I cannot swing it to see in person).

I am going to Road America for the VSCDA Elkhart Lake Vintage Festival in September. I might have to make a trip back just for this.

Last year they had the E46 GTR, the Batmobile, as well as an M5 taxi that you could buy rides in. I got a ride in the GTR around Road Atlanta and it was a blast!!!Starting the trek to Ofest tomorrow. Unfortunately going to miss the ALMS race, but Ofest and Road America are going to be a blast.

I am totally jealous 03Beastcharmer! I contemplated going last year but got busy. The E46 GTR is a car I would give my leg for a lap around a track in. lol
