The title says it all. BMW of North American will be raising prices on average 1% across most model ranges October 1st. The recently launched BMW 5 Series is unaffected by the price adjustment. The BMW ActiveHybrid X6, the BMW ActiveHybrid 7 and the 5 Series Gran Turismo are also unaffected. Pricing for the all-new 2011 BMW X3 will be released in October with vehicles arriving in BMW Center showrooms in late December.
For the upcoming ActiveE, BMW is expanding it’s markets from the MINI E study from LA and NYC to include a larger surrounding area on the east and west coast. BMW has created a second contest that offers young designers a chance to get their creations noticed and win some prizes.
The start of this second contest heralds the permanent establishment of the BMW Group’s Co-Creation Lab, which is the central platform for all customer integration projects for the BMW Group. The Co-Creation Lab is a virtual forum for all automotive enthusiasts. As well as offering a range of design possibilities, it allows people to share their ideas and opinions about the automotive world of tomorrow with leading vehicle manufacturers.
Worldcarfans has a few of the first photos of the F20 five door hatch adorned with the M Sport package and the always popular M Sport aerokit. We’re guessing that the testing is focusing on suspension and cooling (with the new front-end).
That aside, we’re curious to know what’s under the hood. The tell-tale signs of an N55 are there due to the twin exhausts but we hadn’t expected the 135i to appear in hatch form. Could it be an early mule for the 1er coupe? Or perhaps will we see the 135i in a hatch variation (likely not for the US market of course). Or perhaps even more interesting, is BMW extending the dual exhaust design philosophy to a high output four cylinder?
The F20 1 Series will show-up in three and five door variety in late 2011 (as 2012 models) and the coupe and convertible will hit showrooms a year later in late 2012.
What’s the top speed of an E30 M3 EVO? How about the max torque of the E36 M3 GT? We’ve got it all. And I mean every figure you could ever imagine on every factory M3 model ever made. Enjoy.
The upcoming 6 Series is a departure from the previous generation in one way, it’s instantly likable. Where the E63 could be challenging at some angles and disarming at others, the concept has been almost universally liked from the start. It’s easy to see why. The lines, the shapes and the form is all aggressive while having a touch of sophistication. Yet the difference between the generations isn’t has dramatic when you get the two side by side.
The general shape and form is the same. The details are where the new concept succeeds over the E63. The latter took on the convex shapes of the 7 Series which seemed at odds with the sporting nature of a coupe layout. To put it bluntly the car says Florida retiree where the 6er concept shouts elegance and aggressiveness.
The 6 Series Concept features much more taut lines that add to the tension and dynamic feel – especially in the front. With a higher belt-line and nose the new car also harkens back to the E24 6 Series in overall shape. While defined by pedestrian impact regulations the shape does help create an attitude of aggression that the E63 lacked.
BimmerFile is dedicated to bringing you the most interesting news, links and reviews related to the BMW brand and it's vehicles.
We believe in the old school BMW ownership experience. We believe in garage nights with a six pack and some friends. We believe in 2002s, in E30 M3s and E34 540s with the 6 speed. We believe in progress in both design and engineering but we haven't lost sight of what made the brand and its products great all those years ago. And yes, we believe in the manual transmission.
We long for the days of the wave and for the days of roll-up windows. Yet we love the gadgets on the inside and the xenons on the outside.
In short, we can't get enough of BMWs. This is BimmerFile.
