With BMW building a DTM car for the 2012 season, a new exciting possibility has opened up for the Automaker. Australia’s V8 Supercar series could be on the table for BMW if the upcoming 2012 regulation changes correspond enough with DTM.
What’s the V8 Supercar Series. This video (after the break) will give you a sample.
While there are a lot of options and accessories yet to come, BMWNA has released the first version of the 2011 X3 configurator on its site. Our first thought? Where are the 19″ wheels and M Sport package? Otherwise the star of the show is definitely the interior.

BMW Unscripted is a web video series that follows the lives of BMW who find joy in BMWs. It’s an authentic and (quite literally) unscripted look at how BMWs have changed people’s lives. Episode two features the automotive celebrity Sabine Schmitz. Sabine is famously known for driving the BMW ‘Ring taxi and has gone on to host a German show similar to Top Gear.
The F10 M5 may not have been scooped with an undisguised photo but you can see it in the video above vigorously attacking the ‘Ring on an autumn afternoon. It looks great but more importantly seems to sound better than previous videos we’ve seen. We know the twin turbo changed V8 (very similar to the units found in the M X5/X6 twins) won’t have the redline or the simple aural pleasure of the any previous M5 engines but it would seem BMW is working hard to make sure it at least has a voice of it’s own.
At first glance this looks like it could be the next generation M5. But a couple of things strike us as odd about the car and the timing. For starters BMW would have elements of this car camouflaged four months from it’s Geneva debut. At the very lease the BMW logos will be blacked out. But perhaps even more damning is the fact that the body kit is nothing more than the M Sport aerokit already offered on the F10. We can’t help but thing this is nothing more than a F10 5er with the M Sport and an impressive quad exhaust retrofitted.
BMWAG has just announced the BMW-on-Demand program. This is the first attempt of a major automaker giving the car rental thing a try. The trial run of the program will of course take place in the marquees home city of Munich. Customers would enter the BMW Welt and go to a specialized service counter to have all of their car needs met, from as general as the specific model to finite things such as color. Unlike ZIPCar which a monthly fee is attached for a variety of cars distributed around a specific city (sharing) the BMW Program is rented by the hour more along the lines of a rental car.
As many BMW fans know, all-wheel drive isn’t necessary for driving in the snow. In fact there are many (including your author) who actually prefer the combination of rear wheel drive and dedicated snow tires over all-wheel drive and all-season tires. And at their heart (if you take away the need for greater and greater sales) BMW believes this as well. BMW’s Snow and Ice Trainings get drivers into shape to handle the demands of winter. From the Alpine scenery above Sölden to the icy roads of Sweden, BMW Driving Experience offers special driver training courses tailored to road conditions in the coldest season of the year. After all, if you can deal assuredly with the challenges of winter, you’ll be able to enjoy its plus points that much more. (full gallery after the break)
BMW Classic is the stuff of legends. It’s quite literally a building full of the toys we all had as kids. It’s also rarely available to the public let alone journalists. That makes Autoblog’s recent tour of the place all the more special.

We believe in the old school BMW ownership experience. We believe in garage nights with a six pack and some friends. We believe in 2002s, in E30 M3s and E34 540s with the 6 speed. We believe in progress in both design and engineering but we haven't lost sight of what made the brand and its products great all those years ago. And yes, we believe in the manual transmission.
We long for the days of the wave and for the days of roll-up windows. Yet we love the gadgets on the inside and the xenons on the outside.
In short, we can't get enough of BMWs. This is BimmerFile.
