World Public Debut: The BMW 1M

DSC_0091

THe BMW 1M is still hours away from it ‘s official public debut but BMW had the covers off early this morning and we got a sneak look. The car (finished in Valencia Orange) is as bad-ass as we had hoped. All three of us liked it more in person immediately. The vulgarity of the haunches as seen in the photos is more prevalent in person – even under the florescent lights of the show floor.

We ‘ll have more on the car in a few hours (yes official pricing is coming shortly) but until then have look at the little orange monster above.

Still a great looking car, would be nice to see the Valencia in person though my heart still lays with the Alpine White.

  • Alcantara finish gives it a very nice touch. Though I am glad to see that BMW learned from its mistakes and didn’t use alcantara on the steering wheel.

Best pictures of the interior yet! Thanks! Two questions: what is the plastic thing on the passenger side of the shift lever? Is there a cup-holder (not a deal-breaker, but I do enjoy my coffee when I drive to work)?

    Thank you

It’s the blank for the hole where the accessory cup-holder will go.

Yes. Two without nav, one with plus the accessory cup-holder (as in the normal 1er)

Seems interesting the language used in regards to MY2011 and limited run. Do you take this to mean MY2011 will be the only year that it is produced, or one could interprept this as MY2011 will be short due to timeframe and maybe there would also be MY2012?

    Call me an optimist…

    I can’t imagine there will be a 2012 of the current 1er.
