What do you get when you take a Z4 that BMW Motorsport has modified, powered with the famed motor used in the ///M3, a team of talented drivers and enter it a 24 hour race? A dominant victory of course.

We have been huge fans of the BMW Z4 GT3 since we first laid eyes on it- it is mean and lean while still being effective. BMWAG is not racing this car but offering it as a customer race car. The Swiss Schubert Motorsport team is sponsored by Need For Speed this year and with a big sponsor comes big name drivers, like Tommy Milner (formerly of ALMS BMW Rahal Letterman Racing), BMW WTCC factory driver Augusto Farfus and team regulars Claudia Hurtgen and Edward Sandstrom.

The No. 76 BMW Z4 GT3 drove to a four-lap win in what was a trouble-free race.

“The 24-hour race in Dubai is the first tough test of the year for all the teams, and we mastered this challenge in style,” Milner said. “This was my first race at this circuit. Winning this kind of marathon at the first attempt is something I will certainly never forget. We had absolutely no problems and the team spirit was great. This was exactly what you wish for from a 24-hour race.”

Schubert’s sister BMW Z4 ofBill Auberlen (ALMS BMW Rahal Letterman Racing), Boris Said, Matt Plumb and Paul Dalla Lana, came home fifth after an incident-filled weekend. They recovered from a qualifying accident that nearly destroyed the GT3-spec machine. The Turner Motorsports team ran this car during its 24h jount to better prepare the team of four for the Rolex 24 later this month.

“We achieved what we set out to this weekend. We wanted to get the four drivers together and prepare together for the big race in America. I think our drivers are now better attuned to each other. My thanks go to the Schubert team. They accommodated us very well, and we worked as a team.”
