Just feels visually bulky to my eye. I like some of the lines but the side angle really just doesn’t do anything for me.

But when you look at the new car vs old car side of car in profile the new is infinitely better and looks more muscular.

Is it perfect? Nope but there can only be one Mazda Speed 3.

Just not seeing it in the pictures Michael. Maybe better in real life but honestly can say I have doubts.

I sware this thing looks just like my mazda 3. If I could turn my hatch into a rear wheel drive BMW I’d do it in a heartbeat.

The nose is longer than the mazda3, and as a result the front end does not look as bulky.

In reply to the Valencia Orange question?

The other thread does not work for some reason?

The F20 BMW 1er Sporthatch will not be coming to the US. Therefore BMW NA are correct when they say Valencia Orange will remain exclusive to the BMW 1M in the North American press release.

Is that one hideous machine or what? That design makes current 1er pretty…

Love the interior and some of the details: cluster no longer exclusively orange lighting (ECO features in blue), the 3-way split folding rear seat, even the little white-coloured trim on the ignition key, dash layout and switchgear quality, the seat memory switches being at the top of the side panel and so easier to see/access a la e46.

Don’t like the rhomboid headlight design – at all. Also not a fan of the contrasting mirrors with the integrated turn signal repeaters (even though I understand this is to comply with new EU regulations on height of turn signal repeater). And the new corporate steering wheel hub is awkward and SUV-like… not a fan at all… but the much-improved functionality on the steering wheel buttons is appreciated.

So overall I can see the F20 platform, with the extensive styling changes promised for the coupe version that Canada/USA is going to get, making a very very appealing sports coupe with even the turbo-4 motor and even more so with the turbo-6.

I’m not keen on these new headlights…  Kinda looks like the car is sleepy/hungover 😛
