The E28 M5 & Pacific Coast Highway

Yesterday we had a once in a lifetime opportunity to take BMW ‘s own museum piece M5 (with under 13,000 miles on it) up one of the best roads in the world. We ‘ll have a full review of the car soon but we thought we ‘d treat you to a taste of the day.

  • Awesome! Did you also drive the Z1? Also did you shoot a short vid?

I hear it is a great road for driving classics. Can’t wait for more details, specifically how it compared to your former Alpina cammed car.

  • I bought my 1988 M5 about 10 years ago with 36,000 miles.  I thought I would find one on the left coast, but ended up buying it less than an hour from my suburban Philadelphia home.  I decided to do the most logical thing I could think of with a low mileage classic.  I drove it to San Francisco, left it at Dinan for a few days for suspension work, then drove PCH and attended Pebble Beach and the Historics.  One of the best car trips I ever had. Can’t wait to see the review.

What a great time this must have been! Nice to see the Z1 as well… I still remember seeing a Z1 ripping around in Ottawa traffic once up on a time…
