BMW 1 Series MSport

BMW will launch the MSport version of the 1 Series hatch in March, 2012. Featuring more aggressive front and rear bumpers (both able to accept park sensors). On the inside there is the typical steering wheel and specialized materials (alcantara) on the seats and doors but NOT on the wheel or shift knob! Of course don ‘t expect to get the cloth/alcantara seats in the US.

I have to vote a thumbs down for the M Sport front end treatment. I see this forward center panel showing up on other models and its clear they are trying to brand differentiate via this protruding center panel.

And it not that it looks bad, but I still think the basic 1 series front end is more pleasing, nicer lines, and a more essential look. This M Sport thing just looks like all posture, nothing behind it, and since its nothing more than the grill pushed forward I’m sure there is nothing to it but “the look. Its a slippery slope, aesthetics, that ends up in the same scurvy crack as a Camero Z28. Do they really want to go there? Are sticker packages next?
