Following the movie’s world premiere in Dubai on December 7, 2011 the film will have preview runs in IMAX and other large format theaters in the U.S. tonight December 16, 2011, with a general public release on December 21, 2011.
After the jump you will see some prime footage of BMWs racing through a sandstorm passing other German brands. Ethan Hunt, played by Tom Cruise uses the available third pedal in his borrowed 650i drop top to chase the bad guy down… over the top in typical MI fashion. BMWs will be showcased throughout this movie and is part of BMW’s larger push to use product placement in movie and TV productions rather than running typical advertising.

Dunlop M3 Winter Tire
I have been drafting a post on why your car should be wearing snow tires in winter since I made a joke about xDrives and summertires a day or so ago… Well BMW beat me to the punch by releasing an “official” get your car the proper tires communication. It hits home on all the points for winter tires.
We recommend you shop around for the best deal you can or see if you can get prices matched as there tends to be a huge swing in prices with tires. There are run flat options available, including the pictured Dunlop M3 Winter tire- which I have used in a variety of applications over the last half dozen years or so.
Official Release: Do you wear Flip Flop or Sandals in the winter? – From your tires point of view, winter starts at 45 ° F.
Woodcliff Lake, NJ – December 15, 2011…
Like flip flops and sandals, summer and all-season tires are not the best in winter weather, especially if walking / driving on icy and snow packed roads. In contrast, boots and Cold weather tires have treads with more biting edges for better grip on snow and ice, while their softer compound remains flexible even in extremely low temperatures using specialized rubber compounds and tread designs to handle the cold temperatures.

It’s been rumored for months and now it’s being officially teased ahead of its world debut. The M550d power plant will be M’s first foray into diesel engines and one of the very view times M has powered a non-M product.

We’ve seen this rumor floating around for the past couple days and held off on reporting it until it seemed completely viable. However with both sides now specifically not denying the claims, it appears true. The story originally the German newspaper Wirtschaftswoche but has since spread throughout the web. According to the report GM and BMW would collaborate on hydrogen fuel-cell technology. The interesting thing there is that BMW recently slowed it’s Hydrogen program down to a crawl (although BMW’s focus was on hydrogen combustion rather than Fuel Cell) after switching gears to focus on the electric BMWi sub-brand. With this agreement BMW will be leveraging GM’s work in the field by simple contributing towards the research costs.

This may come as a huge surprise, but like Gabe, I actually am a fan of the new 6 Gran Coupe. Since we first heard that BMW was going to build this car I’ve been a skeptic- with good reason as it is entering a market full of coupes that are sedans. There is a Benz, a VW, and an Audi to go along with an Astin and I’m sure I’m missing one or two that are being touted as four door coupes (Panamera?). I don’t understand the fascination with this concept but it seems to sell in acceptable numbers.

The 6er Gran Coupe looks good in photos but it’s in motion that the shape and the details really come alive. You can check it all out after the break.

With the CLS, Mercedes proved that there was a market. With the A7, Audi proved that there was room to make it interesting. Now with the Gran Coupe BMW has proven that they can produce something perhaps more covetable than either. When we first saw the test mules of the GC we wondered how a stretched version of the already large 6 Series could be anything less than ungainly. The thought of a 6 Series growing two extra doors made us think of those enormous four door trucks dotting American highways. Yet somehow the car (all 5,007cm of it) feels elegant and purposeful. But how do the looks stack up to the best sedans to wear the roundel? Or perhaps a better question is, how does it stack up to the best looking large coupes on the market.

Along with the videos, photos and detailed information on the 6GC, BMW has now released the official wallpapers. Over processed? Maybe a little. But there are more than a few that are worth a closer look (after the break).
