      Because Americans (allegedly, if marketing gurus and product planners are to be believed) don’t “understand” hatchbacks. And most of the time they (also allegedly) don’t “understand” wagons either. Which sucks for Canadians who do “understand” both since it limits our options north of the border!  🙂

       I used to stare at the model Nomad drag car I made when I was a child and dream of having one.  I realized long ago that was behind my love of “hot rod wagons” and have always wanted one ever since.

    Funny how many people were blasting the look of the 1-series hatch before it got sexed-up w/body kit and rims.  …lol…

    Me, I wanted one many moons ago and that hasn’t changed.  I’d so rather have one of these next than any Mini variant, or even the F31. 

    ….but alas, I’ve come to understand from this site there’s some bizzare parallel being made between the 1-Series hatch and that old 318i hatch?  I certainly consider them to be in very different leagues, and just can’t understand any decisions made about the 1-series hatch being based off that old bottom of the rung vehicle that was thrust upon us long ago.

    I love my MINI Cooper S Hardtop, but like others who have posted here, I would really like to see this in the North American market.  With the success of cars like the MINI and Golf GTI, I am puzzled by the fact the BMW and Audi don’t see a market for the 135i 3dr hatchback or the A1 3dr hatchback in the US.
