Video: BMW Full LCD Gauge Cluster

BMW is in the process of rolling out a fulL LCD gauge cluster. The cluster allows customization and a different ambience depending on the selected driving mode of the car, for example: Sport RED and Eco Pro Blue. While this feature is to begin production soon in the recently unveiled 2013 7 Series, the US market will need to wait a bit longer as the LCD cluster was not finalized when BMWNA homologated the vehicle.

What that means is that the 5 GT will most likely be the first US vehicle to see the new gauges and it will trickle down from there to other models and at some point we expect it to be in the refreshed 7.

So in that Sport plus, they put the tach and digital speedo on one side – reminds me of Mini, and the other side is what – shows you what gear the DCT is in?

Not following- Sport/Plus changes the gauges to red, still tach and speedo. Eco Pro changes to blue- speedo to 60 mph and shows the “efficiency” and regeneration/charging on the right. The eco pro setting is all about economy and fuel efficiency- changes throttle mapping, shift points, climate control etc. to get the most MPG.
