Thanks to xBimmers we have our first look at the next generation X5 M has it hits the ‘Ring for it ‘s maiden attack. What does the F15 X5M have in store for us and when can we expect it? Read on for the details.

BMW M is keenly aware of the criticism levied against the brand for the X5M and X6M. But sales tell a different story – especially in Russia and Asia. Nevertheless M is committed to noticeably bringing down the weight of the 5,400 lbs crossover. Could we see something below 5,000 lbs? God we hope so.

Under the hood expect a tweaked version of the S63Tü (itself a tweaked version of the S63 in the current X5M) producing over 560 hp. There will likely continue to be only one transmission option in the form of a torque converting automatic.

Given that we ‘ve only just seen the F15 earlier this summer testing for the first time this is a clearest indication yet that BMW M is finally closing the gap between the “series ” launch and the M debut. Look for the series F15 X5 to be introduced late next year with the X5M following sometime in 2014.
