According to Autocar Arnd Meyer, the man behind all chassis engineering for AMG has left to join BMW M. According to sources meyer will lead all chassis, powertrain, electrics and electronics development in future BMW M models likely starting after the upcoming M3/M4.
So why this new addition for BMW M? We see it as another sign that M is preparing to expand into lower and higher price-points. That means Meyer will use his expertise with front wheel drive performance cars (see the forthcoming CLA AMG) as well as the high-end (see any AMG Black Series). The latter will be crucial as BMW prepares for key M cars to have their own halo CSL type of model. We expect the first of these CSL models to appear on the M5 and potentially M6.
