BMW Details the Technology Behind the new Plug-in Hybrid X5 eDrive

We were beyond impressed by the execution of BMW’s first plugin hybrid – the X5 eDrive – when we drove it earlier this spring. But as much as the driving experience was well executed it was the technology and the modular design of it that really seemed forward thinking. To expand on this a bit BMW has produced a video walking through the vehicle, the drivetrain and the work that went into producing it.

Expect the X5 eDrive to be formally unveiled later this year and hit showrooms sometime in 2015.

    The new X5 isn’t as handsome as the previous models. It’s gone from looking masculine and muscular, to now looking like any other CUV.

    • I’ve expressed the same thought since the first pictures leaked last year. While it’s growing on me I still hold to that opinion as well. I’ll have one next week so it’ll be interesting to see if my opinion changes.
