BMW Hires Ferrari Lead Engineer for Unspecified Projects

From Automotive News comes word that BMW has pulled off a massive coup by hiring Ferrari’s former technical director, Roberto Fedeli. What exactly Fedeli will be working on is a bit of a mystery but we can’t help but wonder if this hire is connected with the forthcoming i9 supercar and BMW M at a broader level.

Fedeli has been at Ferrari since 1988 and has lead the engineering of all Ferraris since 2007. That includes the epic LaFerrari and the critically acclaimed 458 and F12.

I welcome this move and hope to see BMW create an exotic car, similar to the Italia 458. It’s true that the i8 has proven to be a futuristic car, it lacks the touch of an exotic car.
