BMWNA to Reduce Free Maintenance Program

Big news for those looking to purchase a new 2017 model year BMW. Beginning with model year 2017, all new BMW vehicles will come with 3-year, 36,000 mile, free maintenance. As it is with the current program this coverage is non-transferable. In addition to this the new free maintenance program will cover less than before. More specifically the following items have been removed from coverage of the new program:

  • Brake pads
  • Brake discs
  • Wiper baldes
  • Engine drive belts
  • MT clutches

To coincide with this change, this March 2016 BMW will begin to offer an additional range of fully transferable dealer-sold MPU products that provide an opportunity to further enhance and extend coverage. However the key word there is offer. They will not be free.

Any idea why they are doing this? But then again, it was never “free” to begin with. It was always rolled into car payments. I’m assuming it’ll be similar to what Mercedes and Audi offers, but BMW still has the advantage, besides the ones listed up top.
