Next Generation G20 BMW 3 Series Engines Leaked – Looks Like the Manual Transmission is Dead

The M2's manual is an iteration on the M3 and M4’s which itself was an iteration of the one found in the 1M.

The 2020 G20 BMW 3 Series model list looks to have been leaked and with it, any hope of a manual transmission in the US has been dashed. Earlier this week Spanish site leaked what appeared to be a legit listing of the new 3 Series models including engines and transmissions.

What’s notable is that two models destined for the US at launch (the 330i and the M340i) will not be offered with manuals. There’s a rumor we’ll once again see the 320i which could the manual back as it’s offered with one elsewhere. But with take rates being so low in the US, we’re not holding our breath.

No 330D? We’ll have to go for a 340D or maybe just get the Alpina D4 …

If they bring a 320i or 330i with a manual and LSD and make sure its below 34 grand, the G20 could enter a new market dominated by the GTI. It would open the car to alot of new people and young enthusiasts including myself. It would be the perfect car. Every manufacturer gets so god damn close but always leaves one part out.
