Today BMW has given us our first look at the all electric BMW i4 sedan at its annual conference. As part of it’s overall messaging around electrification. The i4 will be the brand’s first all electric sedan and the first electric car that follows the classic BMW sports sedan formula.

BMW took the wraps off the i4 early to show-off it’s next step beyond the purpose-built electric iX crossover. We make that distinction because what you see above and below is actually a 4 Series Gran Coupe with extensive modifications to accommodate an electric drivetrain. But that shouldn’t dampen enthusiasm as the expectation is that we’ll see some serious performance from i4 models.

On the top-end we’ll see an M Performance model with a power output of up to 390kW / 530HP and a 0-60 time of around 4 seconds. Perhaps more important to most we should also see a range of around 590km (WLTP) and up to 300 miles* (EPA)

The BMW i4 will have its market launch later this year and unlike the iX3, it will be coming to the US market.
