BMWNA Prices the 640i and 650i xDrive Gran Coupe

BimmerFile Sections: F3X Four Series Gran Coupe | Official News Feb 9th, 2012 1 Comment

BMW has finally released its pricing on the entry level 640i Gran Coupe and then 650i xDrive Gran Coupe. At $76,895 it’s not cheap but it’s still a lot of style for the money in our opinion.

Official Release: BMW of North America today announced pricing for the all-new 2013 BMW 640i Gran Coupe. The $76,895 (including $895 Destination and Handling Charge) TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder powered 640i Gran Coupe is the initial model of the range, and arrives early this summer. Later in the summer, the TwinPower Turbo V-8 powered 2013 BMW 650i Gran Coupe and the all-wheel drive 2013 BMW 650i xDrive Gran Coupe will join the line. Pricing for the V-8 powered models will be announced closer to the time of launch. continued →

BMW Group Off to Successful Start in 2012

BimmerFile Sections: Official News | Sales/Marketing Feb 8th, 2012 3 Comments

The BMW Group is off to a record setting pace to start the year. Between BMW, MINI and Rolls Royce sales are up 6.6% from a year ago with BMW selling more cars in the month of January than ever before (112,163). That last part may not seem like a big deal but considering the brand’s bread & butter model, the 3 Series sedan, has been pending the launch of the new generation since the fall it is impressive.

BMW will also offer new to market models in 2012 such as the ///M5 and 6 Series Gran Coupe (shown above) as well as refreshed products (X6, 7 Series) which should do nothing but increase sales further.

MINI continues to benefit from the the year old Countryman small SAV, and new offerings in the form of two seater coupe with sales up 11.6%.

Official release and chart after the jump for all you number crunchers.

BimmerFile Review: 2012 BMW 335i

BimmerFile Sections: F30 3 Series | Review Feb 7th, 2012 11 Comments

It was just two months ago that we first drove BMW’s all-new 3 Series on the sun-soaked roads of Spain. Of course, we only got to sample the new four-cylinder 328i back then (along with the not-for-us 320d), and every last one of them was equipped with a sport package and an automatic transmission. Last week, just before the newest 3-series range started rolling into American showrooms, BMW finally turned us loose with the six-cylinder 335i; they also let us do the shifting ourselves as we got reacquainted with the 328i on home turf.

Our trip to Spain last fall found us driving the 328i at Circuit de Catalunya, the famed road course that plays host to Formula One’s Spanish Grand Prix, as well as the scenic mountain roads that surround it. To complement the first spectacular drive, BMW chose none other than Laguna Seca Raceway (sorry, Mazda) near California’s central coast. Aside from the parallels between the two legendary road courses, the coastal and valley roads between Monterey, Salindas and Big Sur offer the same kind of undulating, winding asphalt that made the Spanish countryside perfect for first exploring the dynamics of the F30’s chassis and powertrains. continued →

M.I.A Bad Girls Video Featuring Drifting a E36 & E46

BimmerFile Sections: E36 3 Series | E52 Z8 | Video Feb 6th, 2012 2 Comments

We love vintage BMWs but this is a different breed. Still it’s worth a link and mention since it’ll likely be a part of our cultural consciousness in 2012. The Sri Lankan born pop star released her latest video, Bad Girls on Youtube a few days ago featuring that ridiculous straight-line drifting thing that we’ve seen elsewhere on Youtube. No it’s not our idea of the best use of even a ratty E36, but we have to admit the driving in the video as a whole is pretty compelling. continued →

About BimmerFile

BimmerFile is dedicated to bringing you the most interesting news, links and reviews related to the BMW brand and it's vehicles.

We believe in the old school BMW ownership experience. We believe in garage nights with a six pack and some friends. We believe in 2002s, in E30 M3s and E34 540s with the 6 speed. We believe in progress in both design and engineering but we haven't lost sight of what made the brand and its products great all those years ago. And yes, we believe in the manual transmission.

We long for the days of the wave and for the days of roll-up windows. Yet we love the gadgets on the inside and the xenons on the outside.

In short, we can't get enough of BMWs. This is BimmerFile.
