BMW has finally released its pricing on the entry level 640i Gran Coupe and then 650i xDrive Gran Coupe. At $76,895 it’s not cheap but it’s still a lot of style for the money in our opinion.
Official Release: BMW of North America today announced pricing for the all-new 2013 BMW 640i Gran Coupe. The $76,895 (including $895 Destination and Handling Charge) TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder powered 640i Gran Coupe is the initial model of the range, and arrives early this summer. Later in the summer, the TwinPower Turbo V-8 powered 2013 BMW 650i Gran Coupe and the all-wheel drive 2013 BMW 650i xDrive Gran Coupe will join the line. Pricing for the V-8 powered models will be announced closer to the time of launch.

We’ve just heard from a reliable source that the next generation coupe based on the newly revealed 3 Series will retain the 3 Series name. According to this source, the F32 coupe which has begun more formal testing will be offered in several forms including a 340i as a way to further differentiate the coupe from the sedan.

It’s old news for most who read BF but it’s worth mentioning considering the history that comes with the name-plate. Yes we believe that BMW will move the 3er coupe upmarket and bring a new name with it. But is it worth throwing away 30 plus years of history for a subtle change in market position? And is there symmetry in an all four door 3 Series line-up (a la the 5 series)?

First it was the 2 series and now it’s the 4. Yes the old rumor that BMW would be filling in the literal holes of it’s product line has surfaced again, this tim at Autobild. First with the 1 Series coupe moving to the 2 series nomenclature and now with the rumor that BMW will introduce a 4 series. However unlike the 1 series coupe and convertible becoming the 2 series, we don’t expect the 3 series two doors to become the 4.
