It’s on. The 2012 M Fest at the 24 hours of the ‘Ring is back for its second installment and tickets went on sale today. Last year was a huge success and this year is to be only better as it is the 40th 24 hour race of the Nürburgring as well as BMW M’s 40th anniversary. Established in May 1972, BMW M GmbH, previously known as BMW Motorsport GmbH will be celebrating with its biggest fans trackside from the 18th-20th of May this year. Last year the M5 was previewed before the official launch as was the M3 CRT. This year we anticipate M introducing a new model and a limited run vehicle as well. (Updated with more photos) BMW and M have created a new line of accessories to help individuals customize their cars. Looks to be mainly a naming change in our eyes, BMW Performance has now gained a letter M to help move more product. As in the past, all the accessories are of the highest quality and designed from the beginning to fit and function properly. Warranty issues will not apply like going aftermarket and in the flesh these accessories should look spectacular as they have in the past. We have always been huge fans of the BMW Performance line, especially the engineering work and we are sure things will continue on that path, even if the M logo is now splashed about a bit more.

Over the past six months we’ve heard rumors of several “near” M cars that have been undergoing testing. Today we have our first official confirmation from M themselves. “The BMW M Performance Automobiles” will span the range from the X6 and 6 Series Gran coupe all the way down to the much rumored M135i. The idea is simple, bring near M levels of performance to cars with better every day drive-ability. Sounds a little like the E46 ZHP doesn’t it?
