What an experience it must be to own a piece of BMW history, a classic roadster or coupe would be a thrill and turn head’s everywhere it journeys. Thanks to BMW Classic and the BMW Museum you do not have to own such a car. Beginning this weekend you can be chauffeured around BMW highlights throughout Munich in one maintained by BMW.
For three hours you and two other passengers can experience something very few are able to do- ride in BMW history and style on public roads without a worry. Considering the package, the reasonable rates as well. The €120 price of admission includes the BMW Factory and BMW Museum in addition to the car, driver and stop at BMW Classic for a tour and small bite to eat.
On a recent drive with my family we pulled up behind an older looking BMW covered in salt and sand. The car was in such a state that I became quite infuriated. With my little guy in the backseat I made the executive decision to tone it down a notch and mumbled every swear word in the book rather than screaming them out loud. My wife was concerned for my sanity and seemingly set me off even more by saying it was “just an old M3, no big deal” but was she ever wrong- the car looked to be a German Spec E30 EVO the original rims chewed up and wearing snows and the adjustable rear wing in disrepair.
I then began rambling about the future of collectible cars and how things are different in our generation than our parents… as well as my take on the Top 5 BMWs likely to become treasures in the years to come with their pros and cons.
As you may have guessed we’re generally fans of all the new design and technology embedded in BMW’s current range. The just announced M6 is a good example of just how far BWM as come in the past 20 years thanks to turbos and plastic reinforced carbon fiber. Yet we can’t help but long for the simplicity E30 M3 and other vintage BMW every now and again. So to help us (and you) make sense of our wonderful and crazy modern world, we present five minutes of 1080p HD footage of the E30 M3 in DTM. Then to cap it off, we take a look at BMW’s new DTM M3 racer. Just to prove some kind of point.

For the third year in a row Legends of the Autobahn has brought the Mercedes, Porsche and BMW clubs of America together for the ultimate enthusiast car show. What it lacks in panache and extravagance it makes up in sheer amount of rare German metal. Check it out after the break.
If you haven’t had the chance to see the BMW Art Cars in person you can now see them “virtually” on the internet. To coincide with BMW’s 40th anniversary of commitment to culture and the arts the 17 examples of “art on wheels” will be fully explained and exposed via the world wide web.

We believe in the old school BMW ownership experience. We believe in garage nights with a six pack and some friends. We believe in 2002s, in E30 M3s and E34 540s with the 6 speed. We believe in progress in both design and engineering but we haven't lost sight of what made the brand and its products great all those years ago. And yes, we believe in the manual transmission.
We long for the days of the wave and for the days of roll-up windows. Yet we love the gadgets on the inside and the xenons on the outside.
In short, we can't get enough of BMWs. This is BimmerFile.
