Wrapping up Q3 2014, BMW’s motorcycle division has surpassed 90,000 units for the first time in the company’s more than 90-year history. With sales up +7.6% over 2013’s record sales, BMW continues its growth trajectory thanks to in-demand models and one of the industry’s most diverse product offerings.
Heiner Faust, BMW Motorrad Head of Sales and Marketing:
Eight months into the year we are doing very well. 90,226 vehicles sold between January and August is a new record for this period. Our highly attractive product portfolio and the strength of the brand BMW are key factors here. We remain firmly on course to set a new all-time sales high for the entire year of 2014.
Customers can again look forward to numerous new products for the 2015 motorcycle season. We will be presenting no less than five models to the public in the course of the next few months.
As we reported last week, BMW is bringing at least three new models to INTERMOT at the start of October. We know one of those models will be a refreshed S 1000 RR, and we’re expecting our first look at the S 1000 XR Street/Adventure bike. We have our speculations as to what the remaining new model will be, but the new model unveils don’t end with INTERMOT.
Two weeks later, we’ll see two more new bikes at EICMA in Milan. If we don’t see the XR at INTERMOT, good money says we’ll see it there. What else does BMW have in store? We’ll see in just a few weeks’ time.
In addition to the new models, BMW Motorrad also presents its new rider equipment collection for the upcoming season. We’re expecting new street-oriented accessories to support the success of the R NineT and likely revs to track suit and adventure rider wear.
