BMW continues its year-long celebration of 90 years making motorbikes with showcase machines at this year ‘s Techno Classica. Part of a larger BMW Group exhibit that includes BMW ‘s auto division, MINI and Rolls Royce; Hall 12 will be the place for all things BMW at the 25th gathering of Techno Classica. As the group celebrates a number of milestones all its own, remembering nine decades of motorcycle innovation will be a key aspect of their presence this year.
BMW Motorrad actually began six years before the company built its first cars, with the introduction of the boxer-engined BMW R 32 in 1923. The now iconic engine was developed by Max Friz. Since then, BMW’s motorcycle division earned a reputation around the world for innovation, racing success, superlative quality and unmistakable design. The machines on display at Techno Classica 2013 offer a unique cross section of motorcycles that look back over the history of “sheer riding pleasure” at BMW.
