The 2017 Detroit Auto Show may be remembered as the show that clearly signaled the end of Detroit’s dominance with the automotive industry. Or maybe not. Either way it was a show that lacked much of the star power we’ve seen in previous years. With the emergence of the LA Auto Show and CES as major events, NAIAS has shifted even more towards an industry trade show with less pomp and circumstance than years previous. Still that doesn’t mean there aren’t some highlights worth reporting on. So with that said here’s a look at what went on at Detroit in 2017 focusing mostly beyond the borders of the BMW show stand.
