The first-ever M3 CS Touring is the best version of the best M car that North America doesn’t get. Yes BMW has taken the already list-worthy M3 Touring and dialed everything up a notch more power, sharper handling, and less weight, thanks to a healthy dose of carbon fiber.

Under the hood, the 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six now cranks out 550 hp, a 20 hp bump over the standard M3 Competition Touring. That power, sent through an eight-speed M Steptronic and M xDrive, gets this wagon from 0-62 mph in just 3.5 seconds, topping out at 186 mph. BMW has fine-tuned the engine’s internals beefier crankcase, lightweight forged crankshaft, and a 3D-printed cylinder head core to handle serious track abuse. The twin turbos run at a higher 2.1 bar boost pressure, and the reworked engine management system keeps power delivery sharp across the rev range.

As expected, the M3 CS Touring’s chassis has been tweaked for even sharper responses. Model-specific adaptive M suspension, recalibrated DSC settings, and an M Dynamic Mode built for the track make sure it handles as aggressively as it looks. Stopping power comes from M Compound brakes (red or black calipers standard) or optional M Carbon ceramics (in red or gold). Standard forged M wheels “19 inches up front, 20 inches in the rear come wrapped in track-ready rubber, though BMW lets you opt for sport or ultra-track tires at no extra cost.

Naturally, BMW went heavy on carbon fiber to shed weight about 15 kg compared to the standard M3 Competition Touring. The hood, front splitter, mirror caps, rear diffuser, and interior trim all make use of CFRP, while the M Carbon bucket seats and titanium rear silencer help keep the weight in check. Body rigidity gets a boost from precision-engineered front strut braces, reinforcing the M3 CS Touring’s track-focused character.

Despite all the hardcore performance upgrades, this is still a wagon. With a generous cargo area that expands from 500 to 1,510 liters, it remains a legitimately usable family hauler just one that happens to hit 124 mph in 11.7 seconds.

Visually, the CS treatment brings some exclusive touches. The frameless kidney grille gets a red contour line, the LED headlights glow yellow in a nod to BMW’s racing heritage, and the roof spoiler (also finished in gloss black) gains an additional red highlight. Paint options include British Racing Green, Laguna Seca Blue, Frozen Solid White, and Black Sapphire. Inside, the theme continues with an Alcantara steering wheel, full Merino leather M Carbon bucket seats, and plenty of CS badging to remind you this isn”t just any M3 Touring.

The BMW M3 CS Touring is a dream machine for those who want the performance of an M3, the exclusivity of a CS, and the practicality of a wagon all in one brutally quick package.
