No your eyes aren ‘t deceiving you. Those are a radical set of new wheels BMW Motorsport has developed for Le Mans. The wheels are aero specific, light and less drag than conventional wheels seen in both Europe and in ALMS. They increase top speed for tracks that have long straights and are designed to counter the increased surface area the E92 has in the front compared to the competition.

These are ALMC specific made by BBS exclusively for and in conjunction with BMW MOTORSPORT. Rays is the ALMS wheel provider and there is no indication a similar tweak would happen stateside as the tracks are simply not as fast.

According to reports the wheels were a huge surprise to everyone at the track and may ultimately give them an advantage on the famed Mulsane Straight.
