It was gone in a flash but the test driver new our camera was poking out and gave us a little show pulling away from the light just outside of the BMW Welt. And in case your wondering the new M5 sounds better and seems to rev quicker than the current S63 powered car.

The 600 hp and all wheel drive will be the headliners for the next generation F90 M5. But it’s the carbon fiber construction and the lower weight perhaps (as much as 200 lbs) that should allow for a massively faster car around the track. The new M5 will be powered by a revised 4.4L twin-turbo engine with around 600 hp and more torque than can be deployed by two tires. Thus for the first time BMWM will offer all wheel drive as an option of its most power M car of all time.

Look for the new M5 to drop digitally next summer with a full reveal at the 2017 Frankfurt IAA next September. Sales in the US should begin in early 2018.
