Out of date, not specific enough owner’s manual? BMW is working on a solution to this problem in the form of a personalized web-based owner’s manual. It will be specially created and matched to the customer’s specific vehicle. Notes like “only for versions with …” will no longer be included. When the customer configures a vehicle at the order stage, the personalised owner’s manual will be configured at that same time. This would not be possible with a printed manual and is the reason this manual would be web based.
Over the next several months we expect a lot of spy photos to be taken as BMW is redesigning or launching a number of models. We got a tip off to some spy photos of the upcoming X1 and thought instead of giving you just photos of it we would give a gallery of it and other BMW models we have.
We all read the story a few weeks back about the “viral” marketing campaign BMW had established for the launch of the 1 series in the US called Rampenfest.
The issue is that the 1 has already “launched” and you can see them in showrooms. Many dealers had their own launch parties but apparently Rampenfest has not occurred yet. Did that huge ramp go to waste? Apparently not!
Today, I thought I would share with you a little piece of a cog in the BMW marketing machine. This week signifies the one year anniversary of when my wife and I completed our European delivery of a Mystic Blue 530xi sport wagon. We had actually discussed this earlier in the week and how our next delivery this fall is going to be great as long as BMW allows US customers to pick up diesels in Munich.
Come to our surprise in the mail was package from BMW, I had no idea what it could be as I have not ordered anything (lately) and rarely communicate via mail these days. Opening the package there was a thank you note entitled: We salute the ultimate driver: you. Inside the package was a 9″ X 12″ artist design sketch of the sport wagon.
We’re all about video this week on BimmerFile. We’ll be featuring some rarely seen official videos from BMW that give you both a glimpse of the future as well as the celebrated past. First up one of our favorite cars of all time; the E30 M3.
Here’s some low-hanging fruit for our latest in our ‘Ring on the Web series. Yes it’s a little MINI focused for a BMW site but there some BMW related eye candy in the ‘Ring paddock and of course a good portion of a lap to take enjoy.
BimmerFile is dedicated to bringing you the most interesting news, links and reviews related to the BMW brand and it's vehicles.
We believe in the old school BMW ownership experience. We believe in garage nights with a six pack and some friends. We believe in 2002s, in E30 M3s and E34 540s with the 6 speed. We believe in progress in both design and engineering but we haven't lost sight of what made the brand and its products great all those years ago. And yes, we believe in the manual transmission.
We long for the days of the wave and for the days of roll-up windows. Yet we love the gadgets on the inside and the xenons on the outside.
In short, we can't get enough of BMWs. This is BimmerFile.
