The 2019 M850i is looking to be a watershed car for BMW. Rumored to be the highest performing normal Series production BMW of all time, the M850i has undergone extensive testing in recent month in Wales to fine tune it’s chassis and drivetrain. Here we get an inside look with Markus Flasch, Project Leader for the 8 Series range.

2019 M850i

The highlights are many for the M850i. The heavily revised twin-turbo V8 will produce 530 hp and 553 lb-ft. The xDrive system is new and will have a rear wheel bias that should make it feel like a classic RWD BMW coupe. Then there’s all the magic – the Active rear axle differential lock, Adaptive M suspension, Active roll stabilization and integral Active steering are designed to work in unison. We know what these technologies do on the M5 – effectively shrink a large car to make it feel nimble, eager yet controllable and composed.
