BMW Group’s 2024 Success: Record BEV Sales, Global Growth, and EV Momentum

For 2024, the BMW Group continued its impressive growth, navigating a challenging market landscape. The headline figure? A remarkable 426,594 fully-electric vehicles delivered globally—a testament to a +13.5% surge in BEV sales. Both BMW and MINI contributed significantly to this milestone. BMW electrified the market with 368,523 BEV deliveries (+11.6%), while MINI’s new product lineup powered a +24.3% leap with 56,181 EVs sold. Even Rolls-Royce helped the cause selling 1,890 electric Spectres.
Jochen Goller, BMW AG Board Member for Customer, Brands, and Sales, commented on the progress: “The BMW Group is maintaining its growth trajectory for fully-electric vehicles amid challenging market conditions. This is reflected in both the significant sales growth for fully-electric vehicles and the clear rise in new BEV orders in Europe. We are confident we can maintain our BEV sales growth in 2025 with our strong and expanded product line-up.”
While first-half deliveries remained stable, the latter half of the year saw headwinds. Challenges such as delivery stops linked to the Integrated Brake System (IBS) and weaker demand in China led to a revised sales target. Still, BMW Group delivered 2,450,804 vehicles globally in 2024. Electrification played an increasingly prominent role, representing 24.2% of total sales, with fully-electric models accounting for 17.4%.
The BMW brand delivered 2,200,177 vehicles in total (-2.3%). In Europe, it gained market share with notable sales growth in Italy, France, and the UK. The U.S. market also grew, while new BEV registrations increased in Germany despite a slowdown in EV demand.
BMW M achieved a new record with 206,582 vehicles sold (+2.1%). MINI, despite a 17.1% decline in overall sales, saw BEV sales nearly double in the fourth quarter, delivering 29,698 fully-electric models. Rolls-Royce, adjusting to market shifts, delivered 5,712 units (-5.3%) while continuing to define luxury in its segment.
Despite mixed results across markets, 2024 highlighted BMW Group’s commitment to electrification and adaptability. With an expanded BEV lineup planned for 2025, the company looks set to build on its progress.
