BMW of North America January year-on-year sales fell 4.7% to 18,082 units delivered. Severe weather in the North East hit the whole industry, with overall decline in the light vehicle fleet a scant 0.4%. Not only did the 4.7% reduction underperformed the entire vehicle fleet, it also was on the lower end of performance in something I call “Matt’s Luxury Index” made up of brands that appeal at the same price point. The good news is that Lexus did even worse, and that the new X1 is out and making an impact.
