It ‘s official – BMW has beaten Mercedes and Lexus to become the best selling premium brand in the US market. It may not sound like especially important news to enthusiasts of the brand (especially considering only 800 of those were 1Ms) but selling 247,907 in one calendar year in one market will surely help BMWNA ‘s product portfolio in the years ahead as well as give it perhaps an even stronger voice in Munich.

BMW North America edged out Mercedes Benz USA ‘s 2011 tally by 247,907 to 245,192. Due to the Tsunami, Lexus had inventory issues and finished a distant third with 198,552 sales after leading the segment for the past 11 years.
