“We have agreed on a joint architecture for a sports car. What is important is that there will be two different vehicles that are authentic to the two brands,” Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on Monday quoted BMW’s development chief Herbert Diess as saying.

There it is, the confirmation we’e been waiting for. This likely means that we’ll some sort of hybrid sports car perhaps replacing the Z4. This statement also seems well timed given that Toyota will take the wraps off of a new Supra concept in two weeks time at NAIAS – surely a candidate for this architecture.
