With a haul of 13 prizes in the 2013 iF Design Awards – one of the top seals of approval for exceptional design achievements – the International Forum Design has yet again recognised the outstanding achievements of BMW Group Design.
November of 2012 saw a 10.4% uptick in motorcycle sales for BMW Motorrad over November of last year, with 6,749 bikes sold in total....
Day five of the BMW Motorrad GS Trophy 2012 was the competition’s second marathon stage, with a distance slightly over 400km and the complication of a border crossing to deal with as the riders returned to Chile. It was potentially even more of an ordeal given the arrival of rain that peppered the morning then deluged the afternoon.

As much as BMW\'s design language is lead by the 6 and 7 Series, it\'s typically the 3 Series that is the best resolved aesthetically. The front-end is a particularly well articulated version of BMW\'s recent form language. Then there\'s the mantra that every 3 Series Coupe has followed; lower, wider and sleeker. The 4 Series takes this even further with 5 cm more length, 1.6 cm less height and 4.4 cm more width. It\'s almost enough to move it out of the sports sedan category and into the GT class.
Ladies and gentlemen, the curtain has dropped. This is the new BMW 4 Series. Take away the wicker cup holders and quarter inch think leather and you have what will be on dealer lots late next year. The 4 Series picks up from where the E92 3 Series left off. Lower, wider, sleeker and more sophisticated in every succeeding generation, the 3 Series Coupe has increasingly gone further upmarket. With renaming the car the 4 Series BMW is further signaling that this is a car isn\'t just a two door 3 Series.
Day four of the BMW Motorrad GS Trophy 2012 was intended to be an ‘easier’ day given that it’s sandwiched between two marathon stages. However it didn’t quite turn out that way, with two riders injured in crashes during the enduro special test and minor spills on the leg of the course that ran up to the Ventisquero Negro (Black Glacier) on Mount Cerro Tronador, fortunately without further injuries.
2012 saw three championships for BMW. The biggest of those of course being the DTM crown after the brand\'s long absence from the sport.

BMWNA had us worried. While the race for 2012 against Mercedes is still very much in the air, things are quite a bit closer with November sales up 45%. In fact last month was the brand\'s best ever in the US selling almost 22,000 vehicles. Notable improvements in sales were the 5 Series (finally) +64%, the 6 Series +67% and the X3 +51%. The prognosis? Perhaps slighly less ungainly than the 5 Series GT but no where near as attractive as the already released 3 Series wagon it\'s meant to make reductant. We\'ve been talking about BMW Motorsport building a version of the Z4 to compete in ALMS for years here at Bimmerfile. It looks like both sides have come to an agreement and our favorite Bavarian manufacturer will be competing in 2013 with a Z4 in the GTE class stateside. The Z4 in race guise has been one of the most aggressive looking and sounding vehicles on the grid and it is finally coming to the US.
On the occasion of BMW M\'s 40th anniversary, France\'s Motorsport magazine created this video of the best from the modern day M cars. And the focus, rightly so perhaps, is on the sound.
The success of the 1M and now the M135i have made it obvious to BMW that smaller M products are vital the future of the brand. While the 1M was limited, it sold briskly from the start. The M135i seems to be carrying on that success albeit without the limited edition constraints that 1M had. And it\'s not just BMW that sees the potential market. Both Mercedes and Audi will be coming to market with offerings in the next 1-2 years.
