BMW at NAIAS: Full Press Conference & Video Tour

NAIAS 2013 represented a big show for BMW in several ways. Most importantly was the introduction of the 4 Series coupe concept. But production cars also had their time in the spotlight with the M6 Gran Coupe and Z4 LCI both debuting in Detroit. The US market also saw the debut of the 320i and the 3 Series Touring. And on top of that there was the press conference with a handful of new details around BMW\'s future in the US and current production status. All told well worth the trip for us. Joan Barreda Dominates the Fourth Stage of the Dakar

Joan Barreda commanded a particularly hazardous fourth stage of the Dakar, Nazca – Arequipa with 289 km of special test, which covered all types of terrain, and was made difficult by the “fesh-fesh” dust. The Spaniard on the Husqvarna TE449RR by Speedbrain battled his way to an eight minute lead over his nearest rival, and managed to come from behind in the process.

Counter Steer: Comparing Apples to Oranges

There was a time when BMW was the standard for driving sedans in any variety offered, from base model on up to top of the line ///M versions. For better or worse that time has passed. A side effect of that makes comparing today\'s models to those of yesteryear a bit unfair, the market has changed and the cars have changed along with the wants of the buying public. However there is a way to make the tendency to compare present to past more reasonable.

Joan Barreda wins the second stage of the Dakar

The Dakar got well and truly underway today with Team Husqvarna by Speedbrain in the thick of the action. Joan Barreda, the Spanish rider won the Pisco – Pisco second stage, commanding the 242 km (151 miles) of special test. The stage proved to be really tough, with plenty of opportunities for errors and loss of time. Barreda on his Husqvarna TE449RR set an imposing pace from the start of the special test, coming in more than three minutes ahead of the nearest rival.

Husqvarna Dakar Team Podiums in Stage Three

Husqvarna Rallye Team by Speedbrain notched up another noteworthy performance. Nazca, one of Peru’s most famous archaeological cities played host to today’s stage, where it was the turn of Paulo Goncalves to take the podium in second place just seconds behind winner Lopez.
