Debuting at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2013 was the latest BMW collaboration with an Italian design house; the Gran Lusso Coupe by Pininfarina. As Fabio Filippini, Head of Design at Pininfarina and BMW Design bosses Adrain Van Hooydonk and Karib Habib worked together on this project one thing was certain: it was to remain true to what makes a BMW a BMW in terms of design language.

Much freedom was given to the Italians and the results of all their hard work truly takes what is a V12 760 and gives it an entirely new presence and one that a BMW has not had since the 8 Series. After seeing it in the flesh we can say that the interior is one of the most luxurious we have ever seen, even with the over the top piping- the wood is breathtaking. The rear, we ‘re not in love with but it more than likely will never see production; even though Pininfarina would be happy to build one for any customer willing to shell out the dough- and it wouldn ‘t be the first time such an instance has occurred.
